Explore Scratby and the surrounding areas

Scratby Beach

Scratby’s best feature has to be it’s beautiful beach. Scratby Beach is a wide curving, ochre-coloured, quiet sand and shingle beach found at the base of low sand cliffs.

If you explore Scratby cliff line, you can find lots of paths down onto the beach.  The closest path onto the beach is less than 5 minutes from The Beach Hut Norfolk.

The perfect place for long walks, or to set up for a day of relaxing with a picnic and your buckets and

spades

To the south, visitors can walk to the town of Caister-on-Sea, or even to Great Yarmouth, whilst to the north they can walk to Hemsby Beach, and on to Winterton Dunes National Nature Reserve.

Walk northwards and explore Scratby cliff top and enjoy wonderful panoramic views across the sea coming back to the beach via one of the several pathways.

Visit the seals

While there is every chance you will spot some of our beautiful seals while exploring the local beach, nothing quite beats the experience of visiting the Atlantic grey seal colony at Horsey.  Every year between October and February, thousands of seals make their way onto the shores to give birth to their pups.

While Horsey has the largest population of seals, as the population grows, more and more seals are being found all along our coast lines with a large number making their way onto Winterton’s shores.

Great Yarmouth

If the buzz of a golden mile appeals to you, then look no further than Great Yarmouth.  Just 6 miles from The Beach Hut Norfolk, Great Yarmouth’s golden mile has something for everyone.  For the thrill seekers amongst you, the pleasure beach is full of rides and attractions, including the scenic railway, one of only 2 wooden roller coasters still in existence in the UK.  For younger thrill seekers, head to Joyland for and be sure to have a ride on the famous snails!

There are numerous arcades along the seafront, along side restaurants and food stalls.
